NARI SANGH

In our strategy for working with women, we facilitate women’s individual as well as collective agency to strengthen their voice. The collectives of women, called Nari Sangh at the village level and at block level then strive for their rightful entitlements. An understanding of their lawful claims, and the power of ‘being together’ gives them the courage to assert themselves. They have raised their voices in Gram Sabhas to catalyzes realization of their entitlements of right to work, right to food and right to health. Be it the matter of food distribution through PDS or mid day meal in aanganwadis, or work and payments in MNREGA, women have learnt the power of information and are using RTI to ensure their entitlements. They have also organised State level advocacy meetings and interacted with government officials as well as political leaders to raise their concerns.
