SATHI Network origin,
relevance and recent developments.

PANI believes that grassroots NGOs are vital to India’s development. To support their growth, SATHI was born in 1992 as an informal network of 469 organizations. Guided by the principles of friendship, dialogue and cooperation, SATHI focuses on strengthening NGOs in three key areas:

  1. Governance,
  2. Issue-specific expertise, and
  3. Community engagement.

Vision and Impact

SATHI’s vision is to contribute to ‘Gram Swaraj’ – a model of self-governance where every citizen realises their potential. SATHI works to improve the lives of marginalised communities by empowering grassroots NGOs and building the leadership skills of underprivileged groups.

Since 2004, SATHI has been a formally registered organization, operating across 40 districts in Uttar Pradesh. SATHI currently supports 469 member NGOs in areas like women empowerment, digital education and civil society strengthening. SATHI’s work nurtures justice, equality, liberty and fraternity through community-led actions.
